If you had dialtone by the time your cable boxes were activated you should call VZ Tech Support for internal cross connection update. If you or the Tech never checked for dialtone inside your home mostly the ONT (Optical Network Terminal)mounted inside or outside your home has either a bad port, mis wired, or your old traditional copper wire coming from the pole is conflicting with the new fiber signal and needs to be cut. If you had the cable company as your provider makesure thei modem was unhooked.

If it is wireless 2.4ghz it may interfere with your phone. If you have dial up then switch to DSL or FIOS. They have these filter things you can put on your phone to be sure your dial up doesn't fail when you get a call. If you have Verizon FIOS an incorrect installation of the fios cables may cause it to disconnect every-time you get a call.
Dial doesn't allow you to sue your phone while online nor does it have the speed fast enough as does DSL/FiOS.
You would need to go into a Verizon store, the Verizon website, or dial *611 from your current phone.
