A blue tag on an electric power meter typically indicates that the meter has been inspected and approved for operation by the utility company or regulatory body. This tag serves as a certification that the meter is functioning correctly and meets safety standards. In some cases, it may also signify that the meter is part of a specific program, such as demand response or energy efficiency initiatives. Always check with your local utility for the specific meaning of tags, as practices may vary.

A gas generator generates electricity and can be used as a backup in a power outage. I am not certain what you mean by an electric generator. If there was a power outage, how would an electric generator work?
In my hometown, a red tag means that you failed to pay your electric bill, and the power company has disconnected your electricity. You will need to go down to your power company, and pay them in order to get it turned back on. Some will even charge you a reconnect fee as well. Oh, you should take cash or a debit or credit card. They probably won't take a check. My next door neighbors had this happen recently, and they have a newborn living in the house with them. Thank goodness that the summer heat hasn't kicked in quite yet down here in Dixie. As is everything else in this lovely world today, it's all about the money. F.J.R.
