LED is Light Emitting Diode. It provides the light source for a flat panel TV.
LED TVs use a liquid crystal screen. Liquid crystal does not emit any light of it's own, the pixels of the screen act as shutters and need a backlight to shine through it.
Early LCD technology, used very thin fluorescent lamps that were powered by high voltage from an inverter. These used a lot of power, were very delicate and ran quite warm.
Once pure white, bright, LEDs could be produced cheaply, then these are a better option, for providing the backlight.
They are solid state and use less power.
The next generation being developed is OLED. Which is 'Organic Light Emitting Diodes'.
This gets away from LCD technology and uses an array of LED's as the picture elements themselves. At the moment, large screens are hard to make and expensive.
Super large screens used at football stadiums, use LEDs as the pixels, providing the picture content and illumination.
When they say LED they are talking about the backlight. A led monitor is a type of LCD screen. I think what you mean is "Which is better LED monitors or CCFL monitors." The answer to that is LED because they are brighter and they use less power. They can also be clearer.
Samsung offers quite a few 55" televisions. Among them are the LED 6100 and LED 6150 both of the Smart TV series, the LED 6070, LED 6300, LED 6350, LED 6800, LED 7050, and LED 7100 of the TV Series
light emitting diode and its a diode that emitting the light when the current passes through it and it used in the TV screen
No
LED stands for Light Emitting Diode. They are the kinds of lights you see on electronic devices to let you know if something is on. A common example would be television remotes.
3D and LED cannot be compared. 3D televisions can use LCD or LED technology. LED may be either 2D or 3D.
Light-Emitting Diode =LED LED is not a kind of display, when we say LED tv is actually means LCD display with LED back lights.
led is better than lcd tv
LED TV's have LED back-lighting. LED TV's usually last longer than LCD TV's. Bth are reliable and widely used.
Led tv.
LED and LCD refer to different kinds of lighting used for televisions. LED lighting is actually a kind of LCD lighting, but it uses light-emitting diodes (LED) so black colors look darker while bright colors seem brighter. LCD lighting generally uses compact fluorescent lamps (CFL), which are actually tubes, so LED diodes usually allow TVs to be built thinner.
An LED TV would be better than an LCD. LED TV technology is a step forward in monitors and televisions as the backlighting is a line of white LED's instead of a florescent tube. This reduces heat, power consumption, and the thickness the television has to be.
