The 'space race diplomacy' refers to the competition mostly in the 1950's and 1960's between the United States and the USSR to achieve a number of firsts in space and to dominate it. Eventually, the US took the lead and became the first to land a man on the moon. Nowadays, Russia and the US work side by side on the International Space Station.
