Plumb was taken over around the late 1960's/early 1970's by Ames who in turn sold out to Cooper Tools around 1980. While the name lives on - the quality doesn't. Plumb prided themselves in being "American". The hammers and axes today are made in China. Plumb at one time made hammers for companies such as Belknap, and Hibbard Spencer & Bartlett.
