If aliens ever invaded Earth, there would need to be a reason. Like, let's say they want some water. Though, if aliens' goal were to "kill all life", they would need to study our planet, and it's resources. Not by "abducting cows through flying saucers", but to find evidence that our life is more fragile than their life.

If aliens invaded Earth, it would be obvious that we would need to gang up with other countries (including armies), even the ones that caused the 9/11 attacks. All focus would be in terminating the aliens.

Now, most movies shows that "motherships" stay in orbit, which would be really hard to do, considering it's large size.

The war would be compared to a biological war, meaning we use our best weapons, they use their best weapons. Now, by then, our goal would be to destroy to mother ship. How? Atomic bombs? No. Atomic bombs would possibely do barely any damage, because they are not exploding in our atmosphere. Another trick would be to shoot hundreds, maybe thousands of metal plates into space. (I forget what this trick is called.)

What does the extraterrestrial life look like? The reason why we think that question so much, and that aliens in general, are so popular is because of Science Fiction movies. They may look like squids, or just like us!

It would be hard to imagine, that even the most technological advanced civilizations would travel through so much space. Even at the speed of light (The fastest known thing in the universe!), it would still take hundreds of generations to even reach half way.

Now, science fiction movies usually state the fact that we are losing the war at first, costing millions (maybe billions) of lives, which probably might not true. Sure, they may have shield generators. All we need is some electromagnetic pulses.

I gave you how, why, and what would happen if axtraterrial life invaded Earth.
