Thermocouple? It is what keeps the pilot light lit. It is a small tube that runs from the pilot light to the control valve. The tube is made from two types of metal that when heated produce a small electrical current that keeps the gas valve open. Thermocouple goes bad the pilot light goes out and no gas can get into the house.

Does ge gas dryer have a safety to turn off gass if power goes out?

Yes ….Your dryer, like many hot water heaters and gas ranges has a device called a "thermal coupler" This device relies on the heat from a pilot light to keep it on while there is power to the thermal relay. Now, If the thermal coupler fails or if the pilot light goes out, The relay shuts the gas off at the valve to prevent gas from filling the house. The difference between the range, heater and dryer is that the dryer has the safety built in to disable the gas for total power failure. The range and heater can still run with out electricity.

What is the purpose of a water heater thermal expansion tank and how does it help in maintaining the efficiency and safety of a water heater system?

A water heater thermal expansion tank helps to relieve pressure that builds up in the water heater system as water heats up and expands. This helps to prevent damage to the water heater and plumbing system, as well as maintain the efficiency and safety of the water heater by reducing stress on the system components.

What is the purpose of a thermal expansion tank for a water heater and how does it help to prevent potential issues related to thermal expansion?

The purpose of a thermal expansion tank for a water heater is to accommodate the expansion of water as it heats up, preventing pressure buildup in the plumbing system. This helps to prevent issues such as leaks, burst pipes, and damage to the water heater caused by the increased pressure from thermal expansion.
