You can tell by the number of alternates (see "Edit alternates" under Question Tools" in the blue bar on the left) to see how many times the question has been asked. For example:

  • What was the first fighter plane used? 21 times
  • Does God exist? 87 times
  • What are the most popular pets? 91 times
  • How can you tell if a girl or guy likes you? 44 times
  • What is the secret of true love? 40 times
  • Who is the tallest man in the world? 359 times
  • Who has the biggest penis in the world? 3786 times
  • Who is the richest person in the world? 6784 times
  • Why did the chicken cross the road? 1,000,000 times

However, sometimes even the number of alternates to a particular question doesn't tell the whole story. You may find, in the related questions below, a number of questions that ask the same thing as the question you are on. Even the number of recommendations for a particular question will also tell you how popular a particular question is. When you go to a category page, the question at the top of the list on the first page would be the one that contains the most recommendations from users.

The most asked question when encountering someone else in the US is:

Hi, how are you.

Variations on this in the US are:

Hello! (more formal)

Good morning! Good afternoon! Good evening!

Pleased to meet (or see) you.

How 'ya doing? (more familiar)
