There isn't really a ratio. You really want a mixture that looks like something you would wash your car with. Leaks can sometimes be tricky to find. If you have too much pressure in the line it can blow the soapy water out and you won't see the bubbles. You may need to decrease the pressure in the line, (3lbs for waste and vent, 15lbs for water or gas). If that doesen't work try increasing the pressure to see if you can hear it, (8lbs no more for waste and vent 120lbs for water and 60lbs for gas). If all else fails Put a cooking extract in the system(ie peppermint or cinnamon) and smell for a general location. Also, you can squirt a small amount of the soap mixture on all of your joints (wherever the pipes connect to each other or to a fitting) and the mixture will start to bubble if there are any leaks, but pipe must be pressurized. You can also use a 90 second smoke bomb with a shop vac plug all vent stacks on roof and blow smoke into main clean out.
