This is because you and I are not the only ones allowed to use it.Good question! Sometimes I find the questions quite impossible to understand.

This web site is, as with all others, an inanimate object. Devoid of life it cannot 'know' anything. The individuals that use the site answer and post questions. They are the ones that know things. Once a question has been posed or an answer posted to a question this is then 'saved' for future reference, by anyone
Can you delete this question?
Only Supervisors or Staff can delete questions from WikiAnswers or Answers dot com. Primarily, questions that violate the terms of use or rules of the site are the only ones deleted.
Why doesn't this site answer your question?
Because some people who know the answers do not use this site.

If a question is not on the site, no one asked it yet, or they did not use the exact wording you used. Just ask your question in the box at the top.

Why doesn't WikiAnswers answer your questions?
It is because the site relies on volunteers and not everyone knows the answers. So contributors only answer the ones they know. Often, someone has to search your question in the unanswered ones and answer. Or they might not even see your question because there are so many.
