Note: you can usually get rings from monster drops. Honestly, you might as well join a crew (since being in a crew will give you better drops, including rings). If you solo, your chance of getting ring drops is low, but still there.
Most of the quests involving rings usually have a boss you have to defeat. Plus each task has a level difference.
