I don't believe anyone has been killed because of what Wikileaks has released. Julian Assange says no one has been killed on behalf of their release but, the US government insists that people have been killed even though they don't tell us how many. Seems shady..................

It's hosted on servers in countries that don't care about the source of the information so those whose information has been stolen have no legal recourse to stop Wikileaks. It's not just one country either, so it can move around from one place to another - if it gets shut down one place, it can spring up in another. Also there are a lot of people who subscribe to the "information wants to be free" creed and who actively defend the existence of Wikileaks (without regard to who may be harmed by the release of the information - or how accurate the information is)

In the US, there are limits as to the amount of material belonging to another person through copyright that you can put online. Wikileaks ran afoul of laws regarding release of confidential governmental information.
