But in Germany, I've seen people make some amazing hand-crafted house-like settings, where each room had a new day's gift. And sure, there were a lot of little chocolate bars and small gifts, but the closer they got to Christmas, the better the gifts got. I think Germans take the advent calendar idea a lot more seriously, because they give them as gifts to friends and families.
