It must be the answerphone facilities - which would enable you to hear recorded messages if you are away from home. You need to know what type of phone it is - and look at the Instruction Booklet.
i had the same problem with my phone. try just typing the last 7 digits of your phone number and the pound key (#). example: 1234567# if that doesnt work, contact your phone company and tell them the problem
No, you have to hit the send button on cell phone in order for your phone to actually dial the number. On a home phone, there is no send button so you simply just dial the number.

you dont have to walk/drive to talk to the person. you can just pick up the phone, dial the number and simply use your mouth to talk to the person you want to talk to. what else are you going to call by?
