I had a similar problem and I ended up opening the wall to figure it out. Long story short, no leak. The sound was from the copper hot water supply line intermittently "squeaking" against the 2x4 stud it was fastened to when it moved ever so slightly as it warmed up and then again as it cooled. Loosening it a little and putting some foam insulation between the pipe and stud stopped the drip drip sound.
