There were numerous inventors that contributed to the invention of the television.

The first working television was demonstrated in March 1925 by John Logie Baird, a Scottish inventor living in London, England. Called the "Televisor", it used a rotating disc to build a moving image. It was the first successful system to transmit moving images in real time. The BBC began broadcasts in January 1929 using this system and it remained in use until 1936.

In America, Philo Farnsworth demonstrated his electro-mechanical television in 1927. Two years later he unveiled the first fully electronic television system that had no moving parts. His 1929 demonstration paved the way for commercial broadcasts to start in the US in 1939.
