There are two primary reasons to re-format a Samsung Epic 4G. The first is to erase personal data from the phone before it is given away. This ensures that your privacy won't be compromised. The second reason is to correct a software problem. The Samsung Epic has a menu sequence that you can follow that will return the device to the factory default settings. If a software issue prohibits using the menu system, there's a button combination that will also produce a hard reset that erases all your personal data. The phone is now ready to be transferred or reprogrammed.
