Trains came much before the telegraphs
Telegraphy was discovered First and then Telephony was discovered much later by Alexander Graham Bell.
Trains were first- 1784, but cars weren't invented until 1890.
The telegraph first came into existence around 1832. Simple and general components of a telegraph include an acid tube, hydrogen bubbles, and wires.
Welll.... the telegraph replaced the pony express then the telephone replaced the telegraph. and now a days texting has replaced the telephone.
The telegraph
The first telegraph message sent by Samuel Morse said "What Hath God Wrought". Annie Ellsworth came up with the words.
Railways came first, back in the 14th century, trains - sort of as we know them - came later. The first steam train ran in 1804 in England. But there were lots of development problems and working railroads really didn't get going until 1830.
The home phone
It is pretty much agreed that the first invention of Thomas Edison was a tin foil phonograph. The idea came to him while working to improve the efficiency of the telegraph. He noticed that if the telegraph sounds were played at a high rate of speed the sounds resembled words.
