Website Friv(com) has flooded the internet with fakes, and those who support these fakes are merely imitating a fan group. In 2002, the domain was registered by Ghost Production for the animated series Frivolous Fairytales™, with ‘Friv’ being a short form of ‘Frivolous’ (See Web Archive from 25 March 2002). In 2006, there was no gaming site on the domain, nor could there have been (See Web Archive from 5 December 2006), as the homepage stated: 'Plans are afoot to make this space into a really cool place for fun and games. Check back in a few months. No, really. :-)'. Any mention of a children's gaming site launch in 2006 is part of the creator's marketing campaign. In 2007, the domain hosted a variety of content, from Rock Music to the ‘F**K’ video encyclopaedia (See Web Archive from 11 January 2007), which clearly does not align with children's games.
