Akihiko Tembo is the president of Idemitsu Kosan Co., a public listed company in Japan, which was first started in the 1940s This means that he is in charge of around 7,500 people. The company's main focus has always been the petroleum business, and it is now one of Japan's largest oil and energy groups. Historically it makes between USD 30 up to 300 million in after tax profit in any given financial year, depending on the state of the Japanese and global economies. Mr Tembo is now in his 70s, and continues to preside over a company that is generally known in the market at a 'blue chip' organisation, very well run from the top down.
