Benefict, also known as Saint Benedict of Nursia, was a Christian monk who lived in the 5th and 6th centuries. He is best known for founding the Benedictine monastic order and for his Rule of St. Benedict, which set guidelines for monastic life emphasizing community living, prayer, and work. His teachings significantly influenced Western monasticism and he is considered the patron saint of monks. Saint Benedict's feast day is celebrated on July 11.
