Three good reasons why kids should have cell phones:
1. Safety. Parents can rely on cell phones to tell them where their kids are and if they need to call them in an emergency.
2. It saves time. Giving a child a cell phone can save huge amounts of time. For example: if a kid has a birthday party, parents don't have to wait around for their kids to be done. They can go home, relax, and when the kid is done, they can use their phone to call home.
3. It teaches responsibility. Giving kids a phone is a big job. Managing their minutes, following their text limits, and paying for any repairs that need to be payed for. Once the child knows how to care for a phone, it will help them with their responsibility skills in the future.
4.Safety concerns. If I don't have a cell phone and need to reach them in an emergency, it creates a safety issue. I need to contact them if I am stranded or in a potentially dangerous situation. You guys always tell me to then use a friends phone but I'm not always going to be with a friend. I would feel more comfortable if I could have a way to contact you without relying on someone else.
5.Being independent. As I get older, you as the parents should naturally want me to rely on you for fewer things. Having a phone is a great way to coordinate plans and activities on my own.
An average American gets their cell phone around fifth or sixth grade.
A fifth grade is too young for a cell phone if the kind of cell phone that he will be using is a smartphone. The sophisticated features of a smartphone are too much for kids. What is more suitable for them is a simple cell phone with basic features and an emergency response system that can work to help secure their safety. See related links for more information.
While this is largely the decision of the parents, a fifth grader, regardless of shyness or not, has no real need for a cell phone.
You should give your child a cell phone that can only call Mom & Dad and 911 to prevent them from misusing it, or their friends sending them inappropriate texts or pictures. Most cell phone companies have these special phones to protect your children. In terms of when you should give your child the phone, with the special phone I have discussed above, you could give your child a phone at a very young age, perhaps 3rd grade. I think it kind of depends on the maturity level of the kid. But when i see elementary school kids with cell phones, i think its riduculous. 3rd grade is WAAAYYY too young to give your child a cell phone. I would say maybe 7th grade or when they turn 13. I'd say 6th grade.
I think its is a great idea. I gave my kid her first cell when she was 3rd grade and I got her the iPhone.
In third or fourth grade, no offense, but who could you possibly talk to on a cell phone at that age? Do most of your friends have cell phones, because if they do, then give it 2 years or 3 and you should be in the clear.
It depends if a child should have a phone. If your child does a lot of sports and goes to a lot of academies or places, I would recommend a phone. If your child only does one sport and goes over to a friend's rarely, your child won't need a phone. There are other parents that can contact parents if they need to contact.
It is the power house. It powers up the cell
Sure . . . if the 11 year old proves he/she can be responsible with it. Personally, i think that someone should get a cell phone when they are in grade 10 or entering high school. Your not even allowed to take cell phones to school at the age of 11, so the only time you would be using a cell phone is when you are at home. So why not just use a home phone? Anyone agree?
Go to your local phone service store in your town. Ask them if you can get a cell phone card for your cell phone. They should be able to answer your question.
i think that you should be at least over 16 to get a cell phone
Yes. A 12 year old should have a cell phone. They should be mature enough to handle a cell phone. My daughter's are triplets and they are all very responsible about what they do on there phone. I think that 12 year old's should have a phone.
