Most definitely not. They are competitors. AT&T has made several attempts at buying out or acquiring T-Mobile. In one of the more recent attempts, regulators blocked the potential purchase of T-Mobile. AT&T removed their bid in December of 2011. Since then, T-Mobile has increased their customer base, adding 4.4 million users in 2013. They also acquired Metro PCS in the Spring of 2013.
