A mixed child has problems depending where his parents decide to live. Different communities have different customs and cultural habits. The mixed child becomes aware that he is neither black nor white, Latino nor norwegian, or any other mixture of culture or race. The problem for the mixed child is that he looks and acts differently than his peers in school because he has learned habits of both cultures his parents came from.

A foreign child has the same problems because he does not have cultural references, but since he is wildly different than the other children in their experience, he is generally left alone. There will always be bullies who pick on children based on their own insecurities and the mixed child needs to remember that he is very much loved by his parents...and he is special!

His parents chose to love each other in a culture that values sameness. His parents chose to have a beautiful child that is a product of BOTH cultures. The mixed child can be the bridge between culture or races if he values himself enough.

Be strong and remember that you are a valuable member of your family and your society and someday you will grow up to be someone who is very special in society.
