It is being polite to the one calling and the same way you are acknowledging his/her call.
When I phone someone, the first thing that I need to know is that I have reached someone. This is signalled by saying hello. What hello really means is: I am here, I am listening to you, you can go ahead and talk to me.
I just say hello
hello to answer a phone, "hey" otherwise
hello on the telephone
In Russia, people typically answer the phone by saying "Алло" (Allo), which is similar to the English "Hello."
"Hello?"
It is how the French say "hello" when they answer the phone. Another way to say" hello" but in French
im albanian and there really isn't a hello sorta but when you answer a phone instead of saying hello you say alo usually when i wanna say hello to another albanian i just say hello and they understand
