Steam is produced in Boilers of suitable design depending upon the requirement. Due to heat loss in the system due to various reasons steam is likely to lose the heat and slowly condense in to water. Some Equipments using the steam are not suitable to accept steam with water contents. Hence we have to prevent the condensate ( water) from entering such system/equipments. To do this we use a product called Steam Trap. Steam traps are designed for retaining the steam alone ( as clear from the name) and allow only the water to exit the system through suitable drain piping. This safeguards the system/equipments using the steam ...

steam trap is a reverse filter, mean filter the steam and allow the water

Bellows in steam pipes are used for what?

Bellows in steam pipes are used to absorb thermal expansion and contraction of the pipe material due to temperature changes. They allow for movement and flexibility, preventing stress and potential damage to the piping system. Additionally, bellows can accommodate misalignment and vibrations, ensuring the integrity and longevity of the steam piping infrastructure.

What is the purpose of a steam trap?

The purpose of a steam trap is discharging noncondensable and condensable gases. They are essentially automatic valves that discharge using a small amount of live steam.

What the difference between process piping and utility piping?

Process piping contains the product or piping integral to the process of creating the product. Utility piping is supporting the process but is not integral to the process, typically fresh water, cooling water, steam, condensate

Do bottle traps meet code?

Yes. A bottle trap is still an adequate trap and functions no differently than a standard trap. These are generally used in custom homes with exposed piping under lavatories. If it can't be seen though, the added cost of a bottle trap is usually unnecessary.

What do the piping connections to a steam boiler provide?

The piping connections to a steam boiler provide essential pathways for the flow of water, steam, and condensate. They facilitate the supply of water to the boiler for heating, allow the generation and distribution of steam for various applications, and enable the return of condensate back to the boiler for reuse. Properly configured piping ensures efficient operation, safety, and effective heat transfer within the system.

What is the function of steam traps?

The purpose of a steam trap is to stop steam from passing beyond its point of use. A steam trap performs two functions. One is that it is an air vent. Two, is that it is a water outlet valve.
