The abbreviation has had the meaning of Frequently Asked Questions and I believe it was the founders intention of the website to represent farming answers out of questions.
That is to say that there would be questions that would be asked and answered and out of those questions and answers people would create new questions that would get answered and the cycle would continue.
Kind of like a person that grows crops and starts with seeds and after a while they grow larger and larger until you have a great big crop, this website has grown by seeding questions and the generosity of its users to answer them that it has grown into the size that it is today and has the potential to get much larger.
