"Out of area" means that your local telephone company was unable to complete its lookup of the name corresponding to a number that called you, in order to display the name on your Caller ID. Area code 203 is in Connecticut; since the telco was unable to find the caller's name, it displayed the area code to give you some idea where the call was coming from.
