When you see a URL without an extension, you usually are looking at a sub-directory of the website (http://mysite.com/here/). The browser usually fills in the rest to look for (http://mysite.com/here/index.html) You need to add an extension to your page files to let the browser know it is an HTML page. They type of extension (e.g. html, htm, shtml, php. asp, etc.) depends on the configuration of the server. The server will tell the browser which file extensions indicate HTML files and which specific files are the main page (e.g. main.html, index.html, default.html, etc.).
