Let's talk Galavant! Wow, how cool to be part of a show as groundbreaking as Galavant...there's nothing like it on TV right now! What drew you to audition?

I immediately liked the script a few pages in when Madalena chooses fame and fortune over Galavant's love. It was a fairytale completely turned on its head and I literally didn't know what I would find on one page to the next, that's how I knew I HAD to audition for this.

What makes Galavant so irresistible to watch?

Well along with handsome knights, Damsels in (not so much) distress, archaic castles, nail biting sword fights, funny guest stars and extravagant musical numbers....the show will make you laugh out loud week after week.

In Galavant you play Madalena. What's her story?

Madalena is just your typical psychopath, nymphomaniac, gold digging, power hungry type of gal...but completely lovable!!! She starts out as a sweet village girl, so blissfully in love with Galavant, but once King Richard kidnaps and takes her to his kingdom to marry, her true character comes to fruition.

So the music in Galavant is totally catchy and fun! What's it like being in the middle of a scene and then spontaneously bursting into song?

It's such a strange and unnatural thing to burst into a musical number halfway through a scene....so much so that it's hilarious. Sometimes I find it hard to get the notes out as I want to laugh so badly. Let's just say there is a very long outtake reel for this season.

The TV world these days trends towards the dark and scandalous, but Galavant seems to be a legitimate family-oriented show. Would you say Galavant is appropriate for all ages?

The world definitely needs more laughter and Galavant certainly provides that for all ages. Adults will for sure get a kick out of the humor and songs, but kids will also love the extravagant and colorful musical numbers and a lot of the more risque comedic lines will fly over their heads.

What was your music or musical background prior to Galavant?

I always had an interest in singing growing up, I performed in every musical school production, however I never really tried to make a career out of it. I got back into my singing lessons when I first auditioned for Galavant and it has really reinvigorated my love for music

Is all of the music on the show original?

Yes, all of the music on the show is completely original. We have the amazing Alan Menken composing all of the songs while Glenn Slater writes the cheeky lyrics. We also sing most of the songs live on set, so what you hear is usually not pre recorded.

Since Galavant is a comedy extravaganza full of laughs, I'm sure the behind the scenes moments that took place during filming were just as hilarious. Any funny stories you can share?

I find it very hard to work with Tim (King Richard) at some points, just because he is so damn funny and we both can't get through certain scenes without both giggling like little school girls. The scene in the second episode where he is trying to man up for me and drinks his ale "from the bottle" took about 20 different takes as we were completely losing it to the point of crying.

Some have described Galavant as The Princess Bride set to music. Would you agree with this comparison?

Galavant does have some slight similarities to The Princess Bride and also to shows such as Spamalot and Robin Hood: Men in Tights. However ultimately it is very much its own show and hard to fully compare with others. The comedy and musical numbers are so brilliantly daring and unapologizing, the characters are not your typical fairytale types, the script is bold and unexpected so I really think it puts the show in a new category of its own.

The slew of familiar faces set to guest star on the show is enough reason to tune in to Galavant. How did Ricky Gervais, "Weird" Al Yankovic, and John Stamos do with their outrageous roles?

Our amazing guest stars fit very well into medieval times. I was just delighted to see John Stamos in medieval armour, and that jousting scene between him and Galavant in episode two had me stitches. Ricky added a lot of his own zest into the character of 'Xanax' the spiritual healer, it was like learning from the improv king, he has a pretty good voice on him too!
