The upper portion is not something I wrote; I could erase the upper portion from what someone else wrote, but if I wrote something down, I would not want it to be erased so I will leave it alone.

Anyways, I'm a high school student from the Midwest of the United States and I have to say that the public schools I went to waste money. (that is a really good euphemism)

A middle school in the district spent about $50,000 just changing the room numbers. I know this because a family friend that works for maintanence had to be the one to rearrange all the numbers because a guy that worked for the school board did not understand how the even number rooms would be on the outside and how the odd number rooms would be on the inside or vice versa. So, the school had to waste $50,000 to rearrange the room numbers. It cost $50,000 because every piece of paper that had room numbers on it had to be printed and given to fire stations and police stations and any brochures. In addtion to this, another middle school in the district got a new door way system. These doors aren't cheap, they are expensive that have to be electronic (so teachers will be able to open the doors, with their awesome light or lazer activated locks). I'm not sure, but I would guess that these doors cost at the very least, a couple thousands of dollars. The reason for these doors is that office personel do not want students who are late to be able to access the school. They would have to go through a side door in order to check with the office.

Furthermore, the "old" math textbooks got thrown out and were replaced with new ones as they just had to spend money. (Otherwise, the money would be going back to the federal government or state government which means that they receive no incentive to save money).

With all of this waste in money, teachers cry "We are low in money."

Another form of taxation is when teachers hold fundraisers for the schools. They also make us print off, using our own ink and paper, papers online that will be used in school, just because they can't "afford" ink and paper.

Somebody threw out our old computers and replaced them with the brand new Windows Vista computers. The "old computers" were only 2 years old. The old ones worked absolutely fine.

Also, in our school, we have a police liason, and about 5 hall monitors that are adults. For all I know, they just sit at school all day telling people to hurry in the halls during passing time. Passing time is a delay in between classes for adults who are reading this and do not know.

Also, we have a person that monitors our school parking lot, making sure that the permit is used. Students have to buy permits and it costs $100 a semester and you cannot change cars. That is their sole job! You have to register for 1 car and you cannot change the registration. Gasoline is already expensive. That is why I ride the school bus.

I'm not anti-education or anything close to that. I even want to become a teacher someday. I love my teachers and all, but they have one flaw: that one flaw is that they need a reality check about the value of money.
