A quote may be any length, but it should not be the majority of your essay's body. Make sure it doesn't have a run on sentence.

If the quote is a sentence, put in in quotes and cite the source properly.

If the quote is a paragraph, move the margin in on both sides 1 inch. Indentation normally found at the beginning of a paragraph may be disregarded for the quoted paragraph. Right before it, briefly describe the quote, then use ":" to begin. Use quotation marks, and be certain to switch the margin back on both sides once you're finished.

(And always, always, always cite the source.)

(Use quotes to support points- if you need to fill space, rephrase the quote or explain its meaning right after using it.)
