Logic is more than common sense.
Logic is the study of the form of arguments. A valid argument is one where there is a specific relation of logical support between the assumptions of the argument and its conclusion.
In ancient times people were motivated to study logic so they could learn to distinguish good arguments from bad arguments, and so become more effective in argument and oratory, and perhaps also to become a better person.
Informal logic is the study of arguments and reasoning that does not strictly follow the rules of formal logic. It focuses on everyday reasoning, common fallacies, and how people use language to persuade or make decisions.

A mathematician
Logic is closely related to math, but they are not the same thing. Logic is the study of reasoning and argumentation, while math is the study of numbers, quantities, and shapes. Math often uses logic to prove theorems and solve problems, but logic is a broader field that encompasses reasoning in general.

Psychology is backed by evidence. common sense is not backed by evidence and can not be proved to be right or wrong, Psychology must be backed by hard evidence and must have proof and experiments done to prove this .
Logic is necessary for the study of philosophy so as to be able to reason out some of the principles used in philosophy. Philosophy tries to connect general problems to reality and therefore logic must be applied.
