Bernie Sanders' real first name is Bernard. (But his insistence
on being called "Bernie" initially caused some problems for
newspapers like the New York Times, which historically had called
candidates by their actual first name-- Charles, rather than
Charlie, for example. But Senator Sanders instructed all the media
outlets to refer to him as Bernie, rather than Bernard; that is why
you only see him being called "Bernie Sanders" and not Bernard
Sanders.) And interestingly, Senator Sanders does not have a middle
name.
