There are historic sites in Antarctica that one could consider museums, because they remain unchanged since the explorers left them one hundred years ago.

Except that the sites are overseen by governments, visitors are expected to behave in museum-conscious ways, regardless of the lack of ropes or barriers in the sites. Visitors are expected to behave on the honour system.
