There is a shrine for Aphrodite called Aphaia (ΑΦΑΙΑ, meaning: Of the touch (sense), pronounced: Aphaea) located in western Athens, some 8 Km (5 miles) outside Athens, facing Salamis gulf (west side of the city of Athens) on the ancient path called Iera Odos (ΙΕΡΑ ΟΔΟΣ, part of it being a part of the Athens-Patras national road nowadays). There's no statue of Aphrodite present, some candle-stands (niches) curved in rocks instead.
The famous Aphaia Aphrodite temple is placed in Aegina island (ΑΙΓΙΝΑ, an island in Saronicos gulf) not far from the above mentioned shrine.
