Today is July 19, 2008 and me and my family were fishing in the Gulf. At the Little Carlos Pass and there was a reddish snake about 1 -2 Ft in length and 2 inches in round. My husband got it out of the water and it went straight back in the water. Then about 15 minutes later my husband saw a banded sea snake the flat tailed kind. I am a year round floridian and have been since I was since I was 6 days old and my husband was born here and this is the first time we have ever seen one.

Are there bad snakes in Gulf of Mexico?

I to am curious about snakes in the gulf. we went green light fishing last night and I saw what looked and swam like snakes. They were only 3 to 4 inches long. As far as I know they could be worms or a type of eel, but they sure looked like small snakes to me.
