I mean, you shouldn't abuse the suggested donation thing, but don't feel like you HAVE to pay sixteen dollars each if you really can't afford it. This is also true at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Fifth Avenue. I have been told that, at both these museums, the signs that are written in non-English languages are deliberately translated to say "admission fee" instead of "suggested donation." In other words, it's a little scam they run on tourists. I don't know if this is actually true or not. But if the sign DOES, in fact, say "admission fee" in your native language, then don't be fooled.
