It is possible the Griscom name was responsible for the manufacture of the Liberty Bell.My name is Alfred Griscom. It is my understanding that my great, great grandfather,Chalkley Griscom a Quaker and his brother also named Samuel Griscom (not the father of Betsy) owned a coal mine and ironworks factory in Mahanoy PA.Not sure how far back ownership went but it could have been Samuel Griscom and possibly not the same Sam you suspect OR the factory could go farther back than I know. The whole family in my tree goes back to Andrew Griscom B.England and came to America around 1870Plus or minus. I wonder if it's my great great uncle who did the bell. Chalkley Griscom was the father of Lewis Griscom,1847 whose son was my grandfather,Alfred Chalkley Griscom B.1873,,Pottsville PA. Also my father was Wilbur Griscom,1905,NYC.I was born 1947,Bridgeport,CT..I found my lineage on Rootsweb almost two years ago.If I could be any further assistance, contact me at fred2003@usa.com......Fred Griscom
