the echolaocation for measurnig the bottom of the ocean is the Doppler effect
like mountain
ocean mapping is made possible through indirect methods. Oceanographers use echo sounding, sonar, radar, and seismographic surveys. Vibrations such as sounds are set down from the ocean surface. The vibrations are then reflected from the ocean bottom at the same angle that they are received and are recorded at the surface. To calculate the distance to the bottom, the following equation is used d= 1/2 t x v
Sonar mapping is needed for ocean research patterns.
It has many streghts such as for fisher men they can locate where the fish are usaull hiding. And for the navy they can locate where subamarines are coming from and to see the ocean bottom
Because it helps map the ocean floor and have a better picture of it Because it helps map the ocean floor and have a better picture of it
I think that Henry Hess invented echo-sounding devices for mapping the ocean floor. But I am not 100% sure that is the correct answer. LOL <3
Sonar mapping uses sound waves to map out the contours or the shape of the ocean bottom. Sonar is an acronym for Sound Navigation Ranging. Typically, a pulse of sound is generated using a kind of underwater loudspeaker towed behind a boat. The pulse of sound, or "ping," spreads out through the water and is reflected back again by objects in the water, such as the ocean bottom, a fish, or a submarine. Underwater microphones measure the reflected sound. The time that it takes the echo to return is roughly proportional to the distance to the reflecting object. Like an echo in the air. Measuring the distance to a single object is relatively easy because it returns a simple echo. Making a map of the ocean floor is much more difficult because sound reflects back from many directions, from hills and valleys in the ocean floor. Complicated mathematics is needed to calculate a map of the ocean bottom.
what is wrong with this sentence "the bottom of the ocean is different from land masses because the ocean bottom is perfectly flat."
How scientists map the bottom of the ocean
Narwhals do indeed use echolocation, like dolphins, and their sensitive horns to maneuver in the ocean
The bottom of the ocean that is slimy is called a biogenous bottom. Some scientists refer to this kind of ocean bottom as an ooze. They are the result of a dominance of calcium shells and siliceous shell pieces which dissolve at the bottom of the ocean.
Ocean Bottom Nightmare was created in 2007.
