There are two main ways:
Friction brakes- There is a steel fin attached to the bottom of the car. This passes through a little slit on the track and then pressure is used to open and close that. Obviously, when it's closed the car will stop and when it's open the car will going.
Magnetic brakes- There are fins on the side of the car that then pass through slits on the side of the track with magnetic pull. When the two forces act upon each other the car then stops.
Magnetic brakes are more modern and are becoming more common on steel coasters. However, friction brakes are still being used on new and old wooden coasters as well as older steel coasters.
they have a braking system

stand in front of it yeah if you want to die! You cant stop a coaster ones it leaves the station.
The maximum height the roller coaster can/will reach
Brakes, and a lack of driving force.
The translation of the English word, 'Roller Coaster' is..Roller Coaster

From the time you start moving to the time you stop...
The roller coaster does not have kinetic energy at the top of the hill
Brakes, either using friction or magnets, are used to slow down or stop the train usally at the end of a roller coaster ride.
