Different beaches in different places of the world have different types of sand. Some sand is very fine and it feels like powder. Some places have sand that is small grained and when you walk barefooted it sifts up betwen your toes. On a cool but sunny day the sand soaks up the suns rays and it feels nice and warm. If you have never felt sand before, then the closest I could liken it to would be course dry dirt that doesn't get you dirty. The difference is that dirt has a lot of decayed matter in it and sand is usually very clean. Some places have a very fine black sand that turns your feet black when you walk on it but then when you spray it with a hose it all rinses off. When you sit on the beach get ready for the sand to get everywhere. I mean everywhere. If you go swimming at the beach and then sit on the sand, when you get home and take a shower you will find sand where the sun doesn't shine. It'll rinse off. Sand feels very nice unless the wind is blowing really hard, then your exposed skin will sting from the flying sand. Sand in the eyes hurts too. But for the most part, lying on the nice warm sand on the beach is very relaxing.

Sensory receptors in the skin and nerves send signals to the brain, which then interprets the information to determine how things feel when you touch them. These receptors can detect sensations like pressure, temperature, texture, and pain, allowing your brain to create a perception of the object you are touching.
