A fastpass is available at almost every attraction. You just walk up to the fastpass machine and a ticket for that ride, with a return time printed on it will be given to you. Come back at the time listed on the ticket and you will enter a fastpass line, which is always much quicker and shorter than the other line. You can only hold 1 fast pass at a time. So if you choose a ride with a late return time, you will not be able to fastpass another ride until the previous one expires. All in all, a great idea.

The attraction "express line" at Walt Disney World is called Fastpass. It is available to all ticketed guests for free. Fastpass provides each person in your party with a return ticket for a later time, allowing the group to bypass the standby queue.
There are many clocks at Walt Disney World. Each ride with a FastPass line has a clock above the entrance guests can keep track of their ticketed times.
FASTPASS is a fantastic way to reduce waiting time, and there's no additional charge. It was introduced in 1999 at the Animal Kingdom and eventually expanded to select rides at other parks. FASTPASS is basically a reservation to enjoy an attraction later in the day with a much reduced wait. It's also a great way to delay water rides like Splash Mountain at the Magic Kingdom or the Kali River Rapids at the Animal Kingdom until the warmer part of the day, without the long lines. When you reach an attraction with a long wait, just insert your admission pass into the FASTPASS machine and receive an appointment. When you return at your appointed time, you'll proceed through the FASTPASS line directly to the staging area. Disney gives preference to FASTPASS guests over standby guests in the regular line. It's a great feeling to waltz past a long line!FASTPASS reduces the need to get to the park before opening, since you are avoiding long lines anyway. Just be aware that a limited number of FASTPASSes are available, and they are frequently depleted by 2 pm.AdditionAs a former Disney employee, I would just add that Disney sometimes admits 25 or more FASTPASS guests for each standby guest. Staff is trained so that the FASTPASS guests never wait more than 15-20 minutes, maximum.
Yes & No. You can purchase MagicBands from the Disney Store which you can customize with various accessories, but if you stay at a Disney resort or are an annual pass holder you will receive a complimentary one if you opt-in the FastPass service.
Use Fastpasses to avoid queues at the most popular rides. Check your Fastpass carefully to see when you can get your next Fastpass. It is often prior to the time for your reserved ride. Fastpasses for new or very popular rides (such as Toy Story Midway Mania or Soarin') often run out before the afternoon. Be sure to arrive early for these rides.
Yes, but ...You shouldn't. Because of the way the FastPass+ system works at Disney World, you are far better off purchasing your tickets in advance and signing up for FastPass reservations ahead of time; if you purchase your ticket at the gate, you may be unable to take much advantage of the FastPass system, due to all the slots being already reserved by people who bought their tickets ahead of time.
The Disneyland Fastpass is designed to reduce the time in line people spend. It is used at the Disneyland Resort in California. It was started in 1999.

It's Disney World!
No, it is not a Fastpass. You can get Fastpasses by inserting your theme park ticket (which can be linked to your hotel key, called the "Key to the World" card) into the machines at specified rides. Your hotel key is used to access Extra Magic Hours, select days when one park is open either one hour before or three hours after regular park hours. Check with the concierge at your hotel to see which parks have Extra Magic Hours during your stay. If you stay during late, staff will ask to see your hotel pass before entering a ride.
