An archer would use his/her bow and arrow to fire at attackers attacking the castle. Most of the archers would try to protect the castle. Some would attack castles. They would try to aim for the head and maybe the feet. Some attack/defend on horses.
Arrow loops are slits in a castle wall to fire arrows out of.
I suggest an archer, walls, and knights protect/guard the castle. The archers fire and attack the enemy's, the walls make it hard for the enemy's to get in, and the knights try to hold off the enemy's while the archers also attack the same enemy.
Fire an Arrow of Light at it.
The slits are simply called arrow slits or occasionally Balistraria. Sometimes the arrow slits are looking out of embrasures. Arrow slits were useful for protecting the castle as they were easy to fire out of but very, very hard to fire into. To find out more about embrasures click on the link below. Murder holes, also known as arrow slits or murder holes, were architectural features commonly found in medieval castles and fortifications. They date back to the 12th century, although specific constructions varied by region and castle. These openings allowed defenders to attack enemies while remaining protected from return fire. The exact year of their first use is not documented, as they evolved over time.

Scaling walls of fortifications with ladders was a common method of attack in ancient and medieval warfare. Soldiers would carry portable ladders to place against the walls and then climb up under arrow fire. This tactic required speed, agility, and bravery, as the attackers were vulnerable to projectiles and counterattacks from defenders. The use of ladders provided a direct approach to breach the fortifications and gain entry into the enemy stronghold.
