Once the body is examined thoroughly, biopsies are taken and stored for future examination or testing. The remainder of the carcass is then disposed of (either buried or incinerated). Very rarely larger carcasses may be fed to one of the carnivores on the zoo grounds, as long as the animal it did not die of something contagious or was not given a lethal injection (which may then also kill anything that eats it).
