Henry Bacon built the Lincoln Memorial in order to honor the 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln. It took eight years to build the memorial which was dedicated in 1922. Several other monuments and statues have been built to honor past presidents.
Henry Bacon, the architect of the Lincoln Memorial, collaborated with several individuals during its construction, including sculptor Daniel Chester French, who created the iconic statue of Abraham Lincoln. Additionally, the landscape design was influenced by the work of the architect and landscape architect, Edward H. Bennett. The project was also supported by various engineers and builders who contributed to the actual construction of the memorial.
The Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC was designed by Henry Bacon. The statue was made by Daniel Chester French. It was sculpted by members of the Piccirilli family.
Robert Mills was the architect that designed the Washington Monument. The monument was not completed until many years after his death due to many historical events the main one being the onset of the American Civil War.

Near the Lincoln Memorial end of the reflecting pool is the Vietnam Memorial, including The Wall of casualty names, the statue "Three Fighting Men," and the Vietnam Women's Memorial statue. The two Jima Marine Corps memorial and the Korean War memorial are in Arlington, Virginia.
