Well, this depends. Rain drops usually would take thousands and thousands of years to create a small "cave." If it's a river, or flowing water source, such as a stream, it would still take a very long time, but not nearly as long as rain drops. Also, it varies on how much rain the location gets. Hope this answer helps!

If too much limestone dissolves in an underground cave, it can weaken the structural integrity of the cave and lead to collapse or sinkholes. This process is known as karstification and can occur over a long period of time as water continuously dissolves the limestone rock.

It takes thousands of years.Possibly Hundreds of Thousands for major systems. It also takes rather more than just dripping water - which will only drip once a cave has developed with a air space into which it can drip.
The largest discovered underground labyrinth is Carlsbad Caverns in Carlsbad, New Mexico. It has many tunnels and caves that continue for miles.Carlsbad, California is the site of the largest underground labyrinth found in the US. A den is like a room in a house it is very small...and a cave is dark cold and it can go on for a very long time.+++"Den" really refers to a small space used or made as habitation by an animal or metaphorically, a person. A cave is entirely natural, irrespective of its size and length.
Mammoth Cave has about 390 miles, or about 625 kilometers, of underground passages already mapped, far exceeding any other cave system in the world. And that's just what's been mapped -- spelunkers admit they are nowhere near exploring every last tunnel.
No, the word "cave" does not contain a long vowel. The 'a' in "cave" is pronounced with a short vowel sound.
It's a long walk to the end of my driveway where the paperboy always drops the newspaper, so I trained my dog to fetch it.

A cavern is a large cave. Generally a cave is considered to be a cavern if it is large and extends a long way underground. Caverns often have other geological features within them such as stalactites or stalagmites. The exploration of caves and caverns is known as speleology.
