How long does it take to walk through the San Diego zoo?

A full day if you want to see everything plus the shows. It's better to take the tour bus, then go by foot to areas not covered on the bus route. Lots of hills with some escalators, but not in all places. Go see the pandas first.

San Diego Zoo is located in downtown San Diego.

The San Diego Zoo Safari Park is 35 miles from the zoo. It's located outside Escondido. Allow 45 minutes to an hour's drive to travel from one to the other.

There is a guided tour of the zoo which only takes 35 minutes, but if you want to see all that the San Diego Zoo has to offer, it will take you several hours. The best plan is to get to the zoo as early to opening time as possible. The hours are different on different days. The park encompasses 100 acres, so plan to do some walking. It is the most visited attraction in San Diego, by the way. ;)
