Current estimates are that in the three pits containing the Terracotta Army there were over 8,000 soldiers, 130 chariots with 520 horses and 150 cavalry horses, the majority still buried in the pits.

In pit 1, there are 3 rows of warriors equipped with crossbows in the east, the rest are spearmen. About 6,000 warriors plus 35 chariots in total, forming square matrix, are the forward troop of the Terracotta Army. In pit 2, there is a composite formation of more than 1,300 warriors and 80 chariots which is divided into 4 sections. * Section 1: in the pit east, 60 standing crossbowmen, 160 kneeling crossbowmen; * Section 2: in the right wing, 64 chariots, forming 8 rows and 8 columns square, each chariot has 4 horses and 3 warriors; * Section 3: in the center, 264 infantries, 19 chariots, 8 cavalries, forming 3 columns, each chariot protected by 8 to 36 infantries; * Section 4: in the left wing, 6 chariots in 3 rows followed by a squadron of 180 cavalries. In pit 3, 68 warriors and 1 chariot with 4 horses were found. It is believed to be the headquarter of the Terracotta Army.
