According to the missionsanjose.org site, the adobe church was dedicated in 1809 and destroyed by an earthquake in 1868. From 1982-1985 it was reconstructed to look like the original.
The mission was founded in 1797, but there is no record (that I can see) of whether the church dedicated in 1809 was there at the founding, or when exactly construction began.

The Santa Clara mission was rebuilt three times. The original mission was destroyed in 1777, and subsequent structures were rebuilt in 1779 and 1825.
